Meet the Founder
Sona — bold, grounded, driven by purpose.

Sona was born in a small town in India and raised by a single parent in a deeply traditional household, where discipline and family values were the pillars of daily life. Even as a child, she stood out for her bold spirit, resilience, and innate confidence — qualities that would later define her journey as a businesswoman and innovator.
After moving to Australia and marrying into a family of restaurateurs, Sona found herself drawn to the culinary world. What started as a helping hand in the family restaurant soon became her calling. She left a secure career in banking to pursue food full time — combining heritage, creativity, and precision to develop recipes that captured the soul of Indian home cooking.
Sona was the creative force behind the much-loved flavours at Kebabiya Street Grill, where her recipes quickly won the hearts of Sydney diners. But she didn't stop there. Driven by a larger vision — to make authentic, preservative-free Indian meals available to every household — she stepped into the world of food manufacturing.
Sona first launched Kebabchi as an online meal brand to help busy households enjoy high-quality Indian food without the effort of cooking. The brand quickly gained a following and expanded into retail, finding its way onto the shelves of Harris Farm Markets, IGA, and Coles Local.
With a vision to connect with a broader Australian audience, Sona introduced her new venture — Sona's Kitchen — a brand built on the values she was raised with: honesty, quality, and care. It focuses on whole-food, ready-to-eat Indian meals that celebrate both heritage and modern-day convenience.
Today, Sona leads a woman-powered food business that supplies supermarkets, airlines, restaurants, and more — proudly sharing her roots, her recipes, and her story with Australia.
"Honesty, quality, and care — the values I was raised with are the values on every plate."— Sona, founder
